The Fánaithe
A postal subscription curated by IONTAS

The Fánaithe or The Wanderers is a curated mailing list of art that doesn’t need a theme or collection to stand alongside it.
Each month, a carefully chosen pack makes its way through the post to your hands.
At the end of the twelve-month cycle, subscribers receive a professionally designed zine collecting all twenty-four pieces from the year; an eclectic archive of emerging artists, made with intention. The Fánaithe is the first of it’s kind: an editorial, curated mailing list.
What's inside each pack:
Art print of original work from that month's selected artist.
A double-sided postcard of flash fiction/poetry from that month’s selected writer.
A small surprise such as stickers, a bookmark, or something else worth keeping.
A handwritten letter from the editor; why these pieces, why this month.
Plus, at the end of year one: A professionally designed zine collecting all twenty-four pieces from the year; every artist, every piece, bound together.

The Fánaithe exists because some things are worth receiving through the post. Not a newsletter, not a notification; something real, chosen carefully, sent to you on purpose.
Every subscriber receives the same pack, but the handwritten letter makes each one feel like it was written for you; because it was. The editor reads every submission, selects the work, and writes to you about why it mattered.
Subscriptions are limited. Each pack is assembled and posted by hand, and we want to be able to do it properly.
Discover emerging artists from various styles, both written and visual, and you get to say, ‘I knew them first!’
At the end of twelve months, every current subscriber receives a professionally designed zine collecting all twenty-four pieces from the year; an eclectic archive of emerging artists, made with intention.
NOTE: Subscription is not open yet. Join our newsletter to stay updated on when you can become a Fánaí.

The Fánaithe is built on open submissions. Each month, one writer and one visual artist are selected from our rolling call. If your work is chosen, you receive a free twelve-month subscription to The Fánaithe, a premium print of your work and publication in our annual zine. For something this intentional, it is important to us that you feel not just a part of it, but belonging to it.
We welcome work from anywhere in the world, and we are particularly interested in Irish voices.
We accept flash fiction (up to 400 words), poetry, prose poetry and original photography or visual art (digital or high resolution scan of physical work).
Submissions are open on a rolling basis. Work received by the first of each month is considered for the month's mailing. We read everything and respond to everyone.
To submit, use the contact form below. Include your name, a one-line bio and a link to where your work lives online (a website, Instagram, or portfolio). No cover letter needed; the work speaks for itself.
For written works, please include your name, title and word count on the document. For visual works, please attach a JPEG or PDF file; we may request a higher resolution if your work is selected.
